Sweet Plantain Turon are Fried Plantain Spring Roll snacks. I was the lucky recipient of one of these delicious Filipino snacks just a couple of years ago and fell in love immediately!
A lady at my grandmother’s church makes these every Sunday and sells them at a table at the church. Whenever we see her, we make sure to pick up a bag or two. They are so delicious that I wondered if I could make them too. Sure enough, I discovered they are really simple to make and turned out just as good as the original.
The main thing to consider is the plantains must be really ripe. They start to look so ripe that you might want to throw them out but don’t! That is when they are perfectly sweet.
You can use spring roll wrappers or egg roll wrappers. Traditionally, you use the non-translucent spring roll wrappers. Try this recipe, I am sure you and your family will love them!
