The first real dessert I ever attempted was this pecan pie recipe. My grandma used to make this pie every Thanksgiving and it was an absolute favorite! It is an old recipe my grandma taught me and I can assure you it is the best one yet!
This pie is actually my husband’s favorite pie as well so I have made it countless times and now know how to create this classic southern dessert without the recipe at all. This recipe calls for 1 1/2 cup of chopped pecans with about 1/2 cup remaining halved for decoration. White sugar, eggs and Kyro Syrup are a few other ingredients needed to create this traditional pie recipe.
This recipe is very easy and will quickly become a favorite with your family.
Grandma's Southern Pecan Pie
A traditional Southern pie that will become a family favorite!
Heat the oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mix together corn syrup, eggs, sugar, butter and vanilla with a spoon. Stir in the chopped pecans and pour into the unbaked pie crust. Cover the edges of the pie crust with foil or pie crust cover to prevent burning of the edges.
Place on a preheated cookie sheet and bake in the center of the oven for 40 minutes. Remove the foil or crust cover and continue to bake 20-30 minutes. To check that the pie is completely done, tap the top of the pie lightly. If it springs back, then it is baked through and can be removed from the oven to cool.
